Compare Car Offers

The biggest number is not always the best offer.

Anyone can top a comparison table by quoting high and correcting later. Here is what to check before you accept anything, from us or from anyone else.

Seven questions worth asking

  • Is the offer conditional on inspection? Almost all are. Ask what specifically would change it.
  • When does the money arrive? Before the transporter leaves, same day, or three working days later.
  • Is collection free? Some deduct it. Some only collect above a value threshold.
  • Is there an admin or transfer fee? A fee of £50–£100 is common and quietly changes the ranking.
  • Will they settle outstanding finance directly? And what happens if the settlement exceeds the offer.
  • How long is the offer valid? Short windows are a pressure tactic as often as a genuine constraint.
  • What is their record on honouring quotes? The hardest to find out, and the most important.

How to compare like for like

Convert every offer into one number: what actually reaches your account, on what date. An offer of £22,800 with a £99 admin fee, paid three days after collection, is not better than £22,750 paid before the car leaves your drive.

Then adjust for risk. An offer from a buyer that reduces on collection half the time is not really that offer at all.

If a dealer is involved

A part-exchange figure is not comparable with a standalone offer, because the two numbers are negotiated against each other. How to judge that properly.

What we publish

We record every reduction between the offer accepted and the amount paid, and we intend to publish it per buyer as an offer certainty score once enough sales have completed to calculate it fairly.

It is not live yet, and we are not going to invent a number to fill the space. When it exists it will be built from completed transactions, not from reviews.

Questions

Common questions

Why do buyers value the same car so differently?

Stock levels, regional demand, whether they retail or trade the car on, and how badly they need that model this week. None of it is visible from the outside, which is why comparing is worth doing.

Is the highest offer always worth taking?

Not if it comes with a fee, slow payment or a buyer who habitually reduces at collection. Net amount and certainty matter more than the headline.

Do you buy cars yourselves?

No. We are a marketplace paid by the buyer on a completed sale, so we have no stock to protect and no reason to steer you toward any particular offer.
