Density is not the same as competition

Having twenty buyers within five miles does you no good if you visit one of them. The convenience of taking the nearest offer is exactly what the local trade relies on, and it typically costs a seller several hundred pounds on ordinary stock.

The advantage of selling here is that transport cost is close to zero for a large number of buyers. That advantage only converts into money when several of them are actually bidding.

Where the region sits in the wider market

Black Country trade leans toward volume and mainstream retail. Prestige, specialist and electric vehicles frequently attract stronger offers from buyers further afield who have a customer waiting.

That is the case where a purely local sale costs the most — and the reason we take every car beyond the immediate area as well as within it.
